Deciding the personalized folding shape of your wedding napkins is a hard process, but in making that decision you have to think about the spot your folded napkins are going to occupy on the tables. There are people who like the folding napkins on the plates or in the wine glasses or even in between. Either way, with the right folding style,  the final look of the table is going to be fancy and personalized at the same time.

Napkin Folding for Wine Glass

Having your napkins set in wine glasses is only possible if you are planning to serve wine at your wedding. There are all kinds of designs that would make an elegant look, if set correctly.

For example the Lily Goble Fold is a nice choice. In order to make it you have to Lay the napkin face-down in front of you, fold the napkin in half and orient the open end toward you. Fold the napkin into quarters, accordion-fold the entire napkin from corner to corner, keeping the open ends at the top. Then fold the napkin in half as shown, tuck the napkin into the glass of your choice, using your fingers, gently pull apart the loose corners sticking up so they are evenly distributed. If you’re flaps don’t want to stay where you put them, then ironing a little starch into the napkin will help.

A more contemporary and fancy style of folding the wedding napkins is the one that allows you to put all the eating utensil in them. By doing so, you fulfill two purposes at the same tame: on one hand you make sure your table setting is elegant and personalized, and on the other hand, you make sure that all the decoration details of your wedding tables  are presented in a fancy style.

An example of folding your wedding napkins for eating utensils is represented by the decorative pocket style. To make a decorative pocket napkin Turn the napkin to make a diamond shape with the folded point closest to you. Separate the free edges and begin folding each layer down to the point. Continue folding down layers, leaving last layer up. Tuck the sides of the napkin to the back. Insert the utensils.

My favorite napkin folding for plates is the rose. Despite looking fairly elaborate, this fold is an easy one, and it can be done with almost any variety of napkins. In order to make fold a napkin into a rose lay the napkin face-down in front of you, fold the two right corners of the napkin in so the tips rest at the center fold the remaining two corners of the napkin in so the tips meet with the last two in the center. Once again, begin folding the outer corners in so they meet at the center. Once all of the tips are folded you are left with a square about 1/4 the size of the unfolded napkin. Flip it over, fold the corners in so they meet in the center and then place something sturdy in the center, or hold it with your fingers. While maintaining downward pressure in the center of the napkin, reach underneath each corner and pull out the flaps to create petals. Remove the center weight and your rose should look as pictured here. If you like you can reach underneath the center of each side and pull out a second set of petals to fancy it up some more. Place something in the center and you’re done, have a rosy meal!

Napkin Folding for Mugs

Mugs do not represent items that are used in all the weddings but there are wedding themes that allows you to use them in a creative and fancy way. To ensure your mugs will represent a point of attraction in your wedding, choose a napkin folding style that will allow you to put your napkins in the mugs.

My favorite napkin folding for mugs is the Fleur de Lys Goblet fold. To make a fleur de Lys napkin folding, fold the napkin in half horizontally. Position the folded edge at the bottom. Fold the upper right-hand corner down to the center. Fold the left-hand corner in the same way. Bring the lower right corner of the triangle up to the top center point. Fold the lower left corner up to the top center, creating a diamond shape. Fold the top points out to form wings as shown. Slip the bottom point of the napkin into the ring. Adjust the folds as needed. Slip a beautiful napkin ring or tassel around the base of the napkin to hold the fold together.
