There are many festive holidays throughout the year, and if you’re getting married, you may well wish to align your wedding alongside one of them. One of the most popular holidays in the calendar is Halloween, and as it’s almost upon us, there’s just enough time left to plan your Halloween themed wedding. Your wedding cake, albeit one of the last things on the list of wedding preparations is an important one. If you’re planning to get married around Halloween, this would be an ideal theme. So how about combining the two and coming up with a Halloween-themed wedding cake? Unsure of what to ask for? Here are some spooky ideas to get that brain juice flowing.

Pumpkin wedding cake

It doesn’t matter whether you shape the cake into a pumpkin or decide to use pumpkins as the cake topper – pumpkins are synonymous with Halloween and the bright pop of orange will add color to the otherwise fairly gloomy, dark palette associated with Halloween.

If you prefer the idea of a fairy tale themed wedding however, and a bright tangerine orange pumpkin cake will not fit in perfectly with the theme, how about molding the cake into the pumpkin carriage from Disney’s Cinderella? That way, you’ll have the Halloween-themed pumpkin but decorated in shades of ivory white that is so customary for a wedding.

Another alternative is to make a pumpkin out of fondant icing and to ‘carve out’ the classic bride and groom silhouette. That way, you’ll combine traditional wedding cake elements with the fitting Halloween theme.

Corpse bride wedding cake

Fans of Tim Burton films will be in their element with a Halloween themed wedding. In fact, you could even use one of his films, Corpse Bride, to influence your wedding cake design. How about constructing a cake version of a haunted house, complete with intricate and authentic cobwebs and half dead trees? You could then make model cake toppers of the corpse bride and her groom to go atop the cake.

Just because you’ve chosen a Halloween theme, doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to only use black and orange. Dark purples and emerald greens will complement black perfectly and give you a wider variety of color options for the rest of your wedding theme. After all, no bride wants a bright orange dress do they?

Ghosts wedding cake

Aside from witches and pumpkins, ghosts feature massively at Halloween. This is useful as it is very easy to make a traditional wedding cake and top it with white icing to make the shape of a ghost. However, if you want something a little more complex and intricate, you could try fashioning the ghost into a bride to go along with the wedding theme.

Cobwebs wedding cake

For an eerie yet classy-looking wedding cake theme, how about creating a cake with white icing and piping a black cobweb design on top? It may be that you’re having a more traditional wedding and as such, you’d prefer it if the cake reflected that aspect. That doesn’t mean that you can’t still have a bit of fun. A monochrome cake will look elegant and sophisticated, while the black cobweb design will add a fun twist. What’s more, it’s a simple yet effective way to acknowledge the Halloween holiday alongside your wedding day.
