Many couples overlook the importance of choosing wedding napkins since they focus their attention on other more important things like the bridal gown, food, music, invitations, flowers, and so on. Choosing wedding napkins is also important to make your reception look more coordinated. Having a personalized napkin looks much better and more special than having a regular napkin.

Theme. Your choice of paper and design should be in sync with the over-all theme of the after-vows party. In choosing napkins, avoid prints and drawings that would not complement the theme. With this, you have the whole concept of what the banquet and party will be like, along with the reception hall and food. This way, choosing the apt wedding napkins would come easier.

Color. When selecting the color of your wedding napkins, consider the color of the tablecloth on which the napkins will be lying. If you want your napkins to be a standout detail in the table setting, select a color that will contrast and stand out from the tablecloth’s color. If you wish your napkins to be simple and inconspicuous, select a color that either matches the tablecloth or is a shade slightly lighter or darker than the tablecloth.

Design. If your budget is tight one place you can save a little money is by getting a generic wedding design printed on the napkins along with your names and the date. You can have a custom design commissioned if you have a large budget, but when you’re trying to cut costs choose wedding bells, a bride and groom, flowers, or another common wedding graphic for your napkins.

Fabric. The fabric of your napkins should reflect the formality of your wedding. If you are having an informal, relaxed wedding in the park, simple paper napkins are perfect while cloth napkins are a nice touch for a fancy wedding. However, cloth napkins are much more expensive to purchase than paper napkins; to save your budget from strain, see if napkins are included in the wedding package offered by your catering or reception facility.

Personalize. You’d want the wedding napkins to bear strong impression of you and your spouse, the event itself and your very own ideas. So it’s best to search for your options, making sure that these paper napkins are custom-made. This goes for choosing the paper types, the designs and the monograms that you’d want. Go for words and even font and styles that best fit you and your spouse, as well as put a really personal touch for your wedding napkins.

Inscription. Many couples choose to have their napkins inscribed with a message related to their perfect day. This inscription often consists of the couple’s name and the date on which they are wed. Choosing to have your napkins inscribed is a special detail that turns your napkins from throwaway items into wedding keepsakes. Keep in mind, however, that adding an inscription to your napkins is an extra cost.

Order more than you think you need. Ordering napkins can be tricky but it’s always best to err on the side of caution. Figure out how many napkins you think you’ll need and then add another half of that number to the order. So if you think you need 100 napkins order 150 just in case.
